Strengthening Student Psychological Well-being: Emotional Resilience, Positive Thinking and Self-Motivation

On 23 and 29 September 2026, the VIKO Faculty of Business Management organised student training sessions focused on psychological well-being as part of the State Studies Foundation project “Student-to-Student: A Psychological Well-being Enhancement Programme for Students of Lithuanian Higher Education Institutions”, implemented by Vilniaus kolegija / Higher Education Institution.

The training sessions provided students with an opportunity to develop their understanding of emotional well-being, psychological resilience, self-motivation, and the role of emotional intelligence in academic and everyday life. The sessions were delivered by psychologists Ieva Aukštuolytė and Eglė Masalskienė, who combined theoretical insights with practical exercises, self-reflection activities, and interactive discussions.

The programme covered topics related to a holistic approach to personal well-being, the relationship between thoughts, emotions and behaviour, emotional intelligence, stress management, positive and realistic thinking, and the application of emotional self-regulation techniques. Students were also introduced to principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, explored automatic thoughts and limiting beliefs, and learned practical strategies for coping with challenging emotional situations.

A significant part of the training focused on self-motivation, burnout prevention, mindfulness practices, values-based motivation, and the development of individual well-being plans. Through practical activities, students were encouraged to identify their personal resources, evaluate their needs, and apply effective tools for maintaining psychological well-being during intensive study periods.

The training enabled participants not only to gain theoretical knowledge about psychological well-being but also to develop practical self-help skills that can be applied throughout their studies as well as in their future professional and personal lives.

The project “Student-to-Student: A Psychological Well-being Enhancement Programme for Students of Lithuanian Higher Education Institutions” is coordinated by Vilniaus kolegija / Higher Education Institution. The project partners are the Student Council of Vilniaus kolegija / Higher Education Institution, Šiauliai State Higher Education Institution, Kazimieras Simonavičius University, and Lithuanian Business College.
