Sience Shop of the Faculty of Business Management

Science Shop is students’ applied research centre, which organises and coordinates students’ applied research at the Faculty of Business Management of Vilniaus kolegija / Higher Education Institution (VIKO).

The Science Shop acts as a link between business and public organisations in Vilnius region and throughout Lithuania, and students who start their applied research activities at the Faculty.

The Science Shop aims to:

  • organise and coordinate the implementation of applied research and experimental development in the study process of the Faculty,
  • provide support to the students of the Faculty in carrying out commissioned applied research to help solve problems of business and public organisations,
  • promote development of applied research competencies of the Faculty’s students,
  • create partnerships between the Faculty and business and public organisations based on students’ research,
  • strengthen competencies necessary for the professional activity and personal development of the Faculty’s students, lecturers (researchers) and representatives of business and public organisations,
  • provide representatives of business and public organisations with knowledge based on applied scientific research, which will help them to solve the challenges they face.

We invite you to cooperate

In order to implement the provisions of Vilniaus kolegija / Higher Education Institution (VIKO) Strategy for 2021-2025, which is focused on sustainable change, the Science Workshop is open for active partnership with business and public organisations:

  • business enterprises and their associations,
  • non-profit organisations and their associations,
  • community organisations,
  • trade unions,
  • state and municipal institutions, etc.

How does it work?

Typically, the interaction between a representative of a business or public organisation (the social partner (sponsor) of the applied research) and the Science Shop starts with a discussion of a challenge for which students’ applied research is needed. Once the research object, aim, objectives and methodology have been identified, a team of students is formed and an experienced professor (researcher) from the Faculty is appointed to supervise the team. In the search for a solution to the challenge, the research applies existing or generates new scientific knowledge, which is presented by the research team to the sponsor in a report.
