Building Bridges: VIKO Students Enhance Intercultural Skills and Explore Lithuanian Business in Šiauliai

On October 24-25, 2024, students from the International Business (IB24E group), Creativity and Business Innovations (CI24E group), and Organizational Management (OM24 group) programmes visited Šiauliai city in order to enhance their intercultural communication skills and teamwork abilities. They also toured Lithuanian business enterprise “INTUS WINDOWS LT”. During the visit, both international and Lithuanian students not only explored the nuances of Lithuanian business culture but also visited various cultural landmarks in Lithuania. The trip has provided an opportunity for students to strengthen their relationships, which could help international students adapt more easily to life in Lithuania, while enabling Lithuanian students to expand their professional networks.

Here is the feedback from one of the students who participated in the visit: “The trip to Šiauliai was truly interesting. We started our journey with a visit to the Hill of Crosses, where I have enjoyed interacting with international students and asking their opinions about Lithuania. At the “Rūta” chocolate museum, we have received an engaging team challenge with a sweet prize. On the second day we have visited “Intus Windows LT”, where we were given a detailed presentation on the companys’ history in Lithuania, the window manufacturing processes and different aspects of customer service. One of my favorite parts of the trip was the “Siaurukas Museum” where we saw old steam locomotives and cars. Overall, the trip was both enjoyable and educational.”

The visit was organized by Vilniaus kolegija / Higher Education Institution (VIKO) in collaboration with partners as part of the State Studies Foundation project “Foreign Talents for Lithuania: a Search for an Innovative Cooperation Model between Lithuanian Higher Education Institutions and Organizations”.
