Science Shop of the Faculty of Business Management of VIKO Higher education institution is a student applied research center, which organizes and coordinates students’ commissioned custom applied research.
The Science Shop acts as a link between business and social organizations in Vilnius region and throughout Lithuania and the students who start their applied research activities at the Faculty.
The aim of the Science Shop is:
- to organize and coordinate the implementation of applied research and experimental development in the study process of the Faculty,
- to provide support to the students of the Faculty in carrying out commissioned applied research to help solve problems of business and public organizations,
- to promote the development of applied research competences of the Faculty’s students,
- to create partnerships between the Faculty and business and public organizations based on students’ research applications,
- to strengthen the competences necessary for the professional activity and personal development of the Faculty’s students, lecturers (researchers) and representatives of business and public organizations,
- to provide representatives of business and public organizations with knowledge based on applied scientific research, which will help them to solve the problems they face.
We invite you to cooperate
In order to implement the provisions of the VIKO Higher education institution Strategy 2021-2025, which is focused on sustainable change, the Science Workshop is open for active partnership with groups of business and public organizations:
- business enterprises and their associations,
- non-profit organizations and their associations,
- community organizations,
- trade unions,
- state and municipal institutions, etc.
How does the Workshop work?
Typically, the interaction between a representative of a business or a public organization (the social partner (sponsor) of the applied research) and the Science Shop starts with a discussion of the problem for which the students’ applied research is needed. Once the research object, aim, objectives and methodology have been identified, a team of students is formed and an experienced teacher (researcher) from the Faculty is appointed to supervise the team. In the search for a solution to the problem, the research applies existing or generates new scientific knowledge, which is presented by the research team to the sponsor in a report.
